BRILLIANT BLITZ MOVES

For most of you this past St. Patrick's weekend was a chance to go out, socialize with good friends, drink green beer and pretend you're Irish; not I, as the 3rd Friday of the month marks another edition of the National Chess Society of Japan's TGIF Blitz tournament. The tournament is hosted right here on chess.com and is open to all members of the NCS club; the time control being 3 minutes 2 second increment.

I don't know if it was the music I was listening to or the Irish whiskey I was drinking, but I had the worst tournament of my life... but fortunately for you all, the other participants actually remembered how to play chess and here are 5 puzzles featuring their Brilliant Blitz Moves.

This next one starts out pretty simply but a small miscalculation leads to disaster.

Such an innocent mistake.
Now my Blog turns into the drsljones highlight reel.
These things keep me up at Night.

White looks pretty dangerous here, but Black decides to stop defending and start offending.

And for the finale not one, but two Brilliant moves.

Always look twice.
And that was it, that was March's edition of TGIF Blitz. What did we learn? Always look for a better move, don't defend - Offend, don't drink and play chess...that is an important one.
Feel free to share these Puzzles with your friends down at the Library or Bar, and thanks for reading.
Cheers, SheldonOfOsaka.
Congrats to drsljones
