Decided to play d4 for the first time in decades, on the principle I ought to know how it should work out. I don't remember facing a QGA with Black holding on to the pawn before ... hence arriving at another awful position out of the opening. He then seemed to make quite hard work of winning it though (we each had only a handful of seconds at the time control). My final two moves were awful but, to be honest, I'd run out of tricks/traps by then.
