Dutch defense can be rather slow to play - but if you try to make it a surprise wepon and remember the themes when playing that opening it can be rather good . some time a go i read Steve giddins book :'How to build your openingrepetoire. " a book i will highly recommend for the progressiv and will powered chess player - there are some good idears. and some thought about when you play the same opening for years and really get a feel for it.
