My First Week on CHESS.com
Hello Friends, I started here on CHESS.com on Thursday, September 4.
I learned to play chess young, and though I had only played family and friends on gameboards in the home, a friend at work (TOKEN) challenged me to a game online... but we couldn't invite each other or otherwise sync our games to play one another.
So I started searching for a place to play online with an even playing field where you could play people from all over the globe and even challenge your friends who weren't affilitated with the site... and you guessed it, I found what I was looking for here. So, now that its my turn to move, I'm leaving this blog here for now so you can keep track of how I did my first week on CHESS.com.
GAME ONE: (unrated)
ME(w) vs luisand(b) - L in 17.
-biggest blunder: over aggressive with pawns early left gaps in defense.
needed to protect down low early to set up knights/bishops.
ME(w) vs tksee_sla(b) - L in 11 (TIME)
-biggest blunder: allowing time to expire.
Awwww.... shucks!! Oh well.
welbedag(w) vs ME(b) - W in 65
-MY FIRST WIN overall on Chess.com - and a great match!
Check it out.
lord-loss(w) vs ME(b) - L in 10
-biggest blunder: Let the Knight become bait;
next thing I know, CheckMate.
openingtest(w) vs ME(b) - W in 8 (TIME)
-opponent timed out; made up for my earlier oops... 8D
ME(w) vs Token(b) - L in 51
-biggest blunder: Felt I had control of the game but didn't see what
my buddy saw... by the way, this is the guy from work I mentioned earlier.
rocky4_08(w) vs ME(b) - L in 23
-biggest blunder: I dunno... you tell me.
He thinks he got lucky, so probably more than three.
ME(w) vs mormagil(b) - L in 19
-biggest blunder: taking on someone with a 1400+ rating.
Got my tail handed to me!
AB13(w) vs ME(b) - L in 31
-biggest blunder: mishandling my knight and bishop early,
thereby sacrificing my queen and rook late.
Crosshairs38(w) vs ME(b) - L in 22
- biggest blunder: not seeing what my opponent saw (I'm learning to
flip the board now) and losing position with sloppy moves.
