1st Caro-Kann Alien Gambit Games
Today, an opponent played an opening of the Caro-Kann I had not scene. After a few moves, I saw in the moves window, the opening was called ... Caro-Kann: Alien Gambit.
I have heard YouTubers mention this opening, but I never paid attention. When I saw this opening, a slight panic came over me, and I sat up. I knew this would be a weird sacrifice and a myriad of checks, and being the first time I've seen it, I didn't want to fall into traps.
The game was a balance of trying to use structured Caro-Kann set-ups (e6, Qc7, Bd6), Nd7 and avoiding an uncomfortable take. I felt there were multiple attacks for white against me, and tried to navigate defensively, and in what appeared to be frustration when white tried to sac their bishop taking the e6 pawn. I thought to do something else. The game ended with a win, with a checkmate. Here's the game:
I haven't ran the analysis, as I was eager to write a blog on Alien Gambit. As I did with the Coca-Cola Gambit, and Tamalaloy (Tamales) gambit.
