Hooray for Hurricane Earl
With the storm about to blow through my area, I'll get the opportunity to read and work through some of the books i've bought recently. I picked up yet another yesterday - "Rubinstein's Chess Masterpieces - 100 Selected Games". It's edited by Hans Kmoch, so I sidestepped the Reinfeld curse this time.
Speaking of Kmoch, I own his classic "Pawn Power in Chess", and it will soon be time for me to read it. I've noticed in many of my losses that I'm getting killed on pawn structures - passed pawns, especially.
Getting back to Rubinstein.......... Of all of the elite players of the 20th century, he's likely the one I know the least about. I've noticed his name in books I've read about his contemporaries, but he doesn't seem to carry the same cachet. Anyone else notice this?
