My Beginning of Chess Study
Well this is it. I'm beginning my study of chess. I'm reading things online and in various books about the game. It seems pretty complicated and maybe I'm biting off too much to chew. But I'm game. I'm starting with trying to learn some basic checkmate patterns. Today I learned one called Anderson's mate involving the use of a Bishop and a Rook. I'm not sure how to know which mates actually occur in games commonly enough to spend my time with learning them. I'm thinking it's wiser to spend time on things that will actually occur in my games with some regularity. But how can I tell what's common from what's an uncommon one? I'm kinda like a blind man feeling his way around in the dark.
