2015-16 Pittsburgh Chess League, March Alternate
Ever wondered how to draw while up two Exchanges? Scroll down to find out!
I'm done with Pittsburgh Chess League for the year, but wanted to come for alternate games this week and next. Today, I played a G/120 against a guy on the other CMU team who had a forfeit win. He misplayed badly in the Bishop's Opening, and after my kingside attack I went up two Exchanges.
However, I proceeded to "simplify" by giving back one, and later got careless and had to give back the other one, leading to a perpetual-check-filled queen and pawn ending.
As if that wasn't bad enough, I blundered again and my opponent had a chance to go up two pawns, though he insted opted to take my draw. I can't remember a game of mine that has been so badly played by both sides.
