2016 Pittsburgh Club Championship, Round 3
I skipped my Round 2 post since it was the same day I returned from Liberty Bell, and I played a 1144 who tried a line against the Caro-Kann that is very difficult positionally unless White plays sharply.
This week, I played Franklin Chen for the 6th time overall and first since he became master. I tried the Closed Sicilian since I came close to beating him once with it. However he was better out of the opening with queenside space and a good f5-knight, but castled queenside (?!) and after some tactics I won a piece. However it was still tricky and I blundered into a mate.
Unsurprisingly, I will probably leave this opening to rest for a while.
