2016 Pittsburgh Club Championship, Round 1
First tournament, first game of 2016. Ideally the match would have been more even, but as the last game before Liberty Bell, it was as smooth as I could hope.
About Liberty Bell: I am playing the U2100 as "originally planned" - when I thought I was on the cusp of 2100 and wanted a last try at winning a section at a major open. In reality, this is not the case, but I still think I have something to gain by playing experts/high class players. Still, one can't ignore the rewards of desperately holding off a bunch of masters, so I will play in the top section at the Pittsburgh Open if I go.
In this game, a Closed Sicilian, my opponent lacked a good plan (in particular, not going for the usual queenside counterplay), allowing me crushing development and space. I wasn't sure how to convert my advantage with best play, but my opponent soon erred and I won shortly after that.
