Exchanging into a Bad Endgame: Rook before you Leap

Exchanging into a Bad Endgame: Rook before you Leap

I was playing White in the following Blitz game.

Here I played Rd2 on the general principle that Black's Rook was more active and I wanted to exchange it.

This loses immediately as I failed to see the pawn endgame is lost for White.

Can you find why?

The Outside Passed Pawn

Black is able to create an outside passed h-pawn.
Black will exchange his h-pawn for White's f-pawn.
However, when White's King captures the Black h-pawn, he will be too far away to defend his Queenside pawns

Play may continue like

The moral is to Rook before you Leap
