No Country for Old Bishops

No Country for Old Bishops

Sep 29, 2016, 8:43 PM 1

The way my opponent's Bishops stayed on e8 and f8 reminded me of the movie "No Country for Old Men". In the heat of attack, I'm afraid these Black Bishops were nowhere in sight. Somewhat has the appearance of a Chess960 setup.

In this miniature where I was on the White side, I was happy to find the following move which fights for the initiative at the cost of a pawn.

10. b4!? and White gives up the b-pawn for a coordinated attack against Black's b-pawn on the open b-file, as well as pressure at f7 (though that is not really the target). The amount of piece activity this move gave me was very generous.
