Chess Variations (Horde, crazyhouse)
I just recently stumbled upon a load of chess variations. I always noticed them and even occasionally did chess690. When I saw Horde as an option, I was intrigued. I had no idea what I was in for when I saw over 20 pawns facing me. The challenge I really think is most appealing, is that it is using the main concept of a regular chess game, but making the objective very overwhelming. It is playing an online strategy game, looking at marketing strategies or SEO and advertisments on the television. It's a puzzle inside of a puzzle.
Now Crazyhouse is truly amazing to me. There are so many more elements now put into play. I pawn put in the right place, could mean checkmate for your unsuspecting opponent. However, the opposite is also true. Did my opponent realize that his knight put on E3 will destroy me?
Honestly, I'm not sure when i will ever get around to playing a normal game of chess again. What about you guys?
