Annual Meeting, Speed Championship, Tournament Announcements, & How To Handle A Tough Loss

It was a great year for the Denver Broncos despite the lousy ending.  However, it happens to the best of us.  Here is a position from a recent upset I suffered at the hands of Peter Barlay.  If white were the Ravens, figure out which piece was Jacoby Jones.

This Tuesday will be the Colorado Springs Chess Club's Annual Meeting.  We will elect new officers (3) for 2013 and plan the upcoming club events along with any other club business.  Anyone can run for office, especially if you promise to bring in large prize funds for club tournaments, and all attendees get to vote.  The Colorado Springs Chess Club has been active since 1947 and currently meets at the Acacia Apartment's ballroom on Tuesday night.

Next Tuesday (1/22) will start the CSCC's Speed Championship.  It is a Round Robin tournament (G5) with a qualifier round the first week and a championship and consolation round the following week.  Entry is $5 with prizes based on entries.  Also, the championship winner will have his name inscribed on the club plaque.
