My Eleventh Chess Tournament, Game 1 (English Positional Grind)

Jan 29, 2013, 7:36 PM |

On January 11, 2013, I started to play otb again. My opponent that day was someone who played against me a little over 5 months earlier. Unlike the last time I played against him when I played the opening poorly and was lucky to have drawn, this time I managed to win. However, the only reason for why I won was because my opponent ran out of time. If he had not run out of time, he would have easily won in the endgame. Nevertheless, I have no problem claiming a win on time. Here is the game:

Themes: Double Attacks, Forks, Zugzwang, Pins, King Activity, Weak and Strong Squares, Opening Lines, Closed Game, Using Knights, Prophylaxis, Outpost Squares, Outposts, Good and Bad Bishops, Isolated Pawns, Weak Pawns, Backwards Pawns, Doubled Pawns, Blockading, Passed Pawns, Bishops vs Knight
