The Many Faces Of Potential - Part 1
This year's Sudbury Championship was special for me. Of course, it's special to win the local championship. It's also a neat feeling to do it 3 times in a row... but most special was the opportunity to play in a local championship that featured far more talent than usual for Sudbury events.
One thing I found very impressive was the amount of talent and general playing strength demonstrated at this tournament. I'll start with the demonstration I found most frustrating...
This game taught me a few things. First off, anybody can have a good day. It seems to me that the trick to having a good day is to be opportunistic. It also came as a harsh reminder that I can't play with a sense of entitlement. I didn't have enough to win the game and I shouldn't have acted like I deserved it.
In part two I'll hunt down one of the biggest upsets of the tournament. Stay tuned.
