In 1909 Alain C. White published a collection of 101 chess problems (NY, American Chess Bulletin). Because of their common distinctive feature (the strongest piece on the board is N or B) they look a lot like endgame studies. At least I think that I have bumped into many of these patterns on real games. So enjoy them. Here' re the first 25 (always white to play and mostly M3, and few M2). In the end I've posted the 4 introduction pages of the book and a download link, via dropbox, of the pgn file that contains the positions below, for anyone who's interested in.
