David Mote Memorial March 2017

David Mote Memorial March 2017

Mar 20, 2017, 7:16 PM 2
The first round pitted me against last year's co-winner, Jeffrey Cowhick, who tied for 2nd this year.

2nd Round game against Jared Dong, a student of Lenny Ferguson's.  It was good to see one of his student's playing in the tournament.  At the end of the day, Jared gained about 180 rating points.

My 3rd round game against Robert Naiman, which resulted in what would have been the 2nd mate that I delivered in the tournament.

I wasn't happy about receiving my 2nd Black in a row and my 3rd Black in the tournament, and I asked the TD to cite the rule that permitted this, which he did.

This was a tough loss, having been better throughout most of the game.  With this loss, I finished with an even score.  If I had won, I would have been tied for 2nd place and would have won the Class C and D prize, as well.  frustrated.png  I did gain back 20 rating points as a result of this tournament.
