Nick Allison 1406 v. Shon Shtern 1755 10/22/16 0-1
Nick, you performed almost beyond what I could have hoped for on Saturday. You went 3-1 when no board 2 went 4-0, and your victory over Jonathan Lee was superb. But this is a game where, to get better, you must confront the weakness of loose play. The entire idea of playing the open game, as you insist you must, is that if your opponent wants to play confrontational, high-initiative chess, you must be able to fight fire with fire. You cannot suddenly play passively once you enter Tal's dark forest.
