What a horrible sight to behold! What a terrible line to face!

As a devoted Caro-Kann practicioner 1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.ed cd 4.c4 is the worst line i've yet come across as Black. I've only faced the line once in serious competition (in which i succumbed to a horrible sacrificial kingside attack) but once the position arises I feel this darkness consume the board. What do I do now?

I don't dislike a tactical battle but complex theoretical baggage is a bit much to swallow. I have tried the 5...Nf6 6.Nc3 e6 line but I'm still not sure it's quite to my liking.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to conquer this raging beast????
