Italian flaw ?

I recently played an Italian opening and my oponent played f6 with Black on the 3rd move. This look to me as an inaccurate move but I could not figure out a way to penalize him for this move.

I checked the chess.com game archive and found only one game where this is followed by 4.Nh4 to allow the queen to check on h5 and penetrate the kind side.

Not sure however what to do if Black simply plays 4. g6
