Back In Action At The Western Montana Championship

After my terrible performance at the Open last month, I was looking forward to competing in this event hosted in Missoula by Greg "the Octopus" Nowak. I wound up tying for first with Greg, getting a draw against him in Round 4 after both of us had won our prior three games. Greg pays out award money in 2-dollar bills, but I suppose in chess it's all about the Jeffersons.

This was a Game/30 event, so I didn't want to waste precious minutes recording my moves. Fortunately, my opponent in Round 3 did record the moves and let me copy them afterwards. He was none other than Loren Meierding, an excellent player who -- like so many of us on various occasions -- had an off day.
