Great Falls Chinook - Round 1
After the disaster at the state championship last month, I decided it was time to change things and severely reduce my alcohol intake during the week leading up to tournaments. My new policy has worked well, as I shared first place at the Great Falls Chinook with an expert visiting from Illinois -- I was the only person he couldn't beat. From here on out I will no longer be playing with one hand tied behind my back.
In this first round I faced Frank Miller, a lower-rated player who punches above his weight and is notorious for killing giants on occasion. I once lost a game to him, and he won the award for greatest upset later in this tournament, so I was sure to play with razor-sharp precision.
