Montana Open 2016 - Round Two
Round 2 was against Daniel Mattson, a gentleman from Billings who stunned Jacob Copley with an upset in Round 1. Jacob had just accomplished a 5-point sweep at the Great Falls Open, so he wasn't expecting that a player rated in the 1400s would be this dangerous.
It fell to me to confront Daniel next, and I can confirm that he is an excellent player whose rating is 200 to 300 points too low. But Daniel hasn't played in a tournament in years, so he was honing his skills under the radar. I enjoyed talking to him between rounds after I managed to beat him in this exciting game; he's very similar to me, a man who works hard to excel at whatever he does. I hope to play him again!
