The Final Game of 2017 at the WestSide Elementary Afterschool Chess Enrichment Program
Nov 21, 2017, 9:37 PM
No matter how much experience I have as a chess player or coach I find there is always something new to learn from this old game. I was surprised of what my students taught me at the Marshall elementary school today. I awoke this morning never hearing about the Kadas Opening. I witnessed the WestSide Variation during the after school program and would like to share it with you.
I would have liked to see more endgames today but the kids were new to using clocks and still struggling with notation. The kids are drawn to the electronic devices like magnets to metal. I'm looking forward to watching these youngsters maturing into good decision makers.
