Introducing Chess Player Trading Cards!

The other day, I had a moment of sudden genius: what if there was such a thing as chess player trading cards?

My reasoning was simple: why does Pokemon get to have all the fun? And there are player cards for sports like basketball, football, and baseball, so why are there no player cards for chess?

Just to make sure, I did a quick Google search to check and see if it had been thought of before, and sure enough, there has never been an official line of chess player trading cards released. So I decided to be the one to create the first official line.

I hopped on to my go-to website for designing, Canva.com (yes, I know I'm cheap) and created my first of (hopefully) many chess player trading cards in the future. It was, for obvious reasons, Magnus Carlsen.

Clearly, it's a work in progress. It's not like I'm a graphic designer for a living or anything, so if there are any graphic designers reading this who I am offending deeply with this work, I apologize. I did my best with the materials I had and honestly, I think it looks great and worth attempting to make a little business out of. I liked it so much that I made nine more:

The original 10 Chess Player Trading Cards

I think there is definitely a market for these things, seeing as chess is more popular than ever and Chess.com has over 100 million members. Maybe I'll send my idea to FIDE to see if they'll create a more "professional" version. I'll probably just stick to my original plan of selling my cards and creating a business.

The best part about all of this is that it only takes about 10 minutes to make each, so in a couple of hours I could have about 20 of them made. In a week, I could have over 100 made. In a month, we're talking possibly 500 made. We're on pace for success right now, I'd say.

What is your opinion on my cards? Comment below! Feel free to be as strict as you like!
