DONT BE AFRAID OF BEES

As a kid I was always afraid of bees and wasps, hornets, yellow jackets or anything which looked like it had a stinger.
One day I was a couple of blocks from my home, near the Sangamon River. We were near an area where there were a lot of bees.
The bees seemed to be concentrated in a couple of bushes.
Some older kid told me that if I was not afraid of the bees they would not bother me. He explained that if you are afraid of bees you sweat a little and the bees smell this and they will attack you. On the other hand if you are not afraid, they will leave you alone.
Well, I was tired of being afraid of bees all the time so I put this new knowledge to the test.
I confidently walked through the small area betwseen the two bushes.
Not, a good idea. The bees started stinging me. They were in my clothes and on my hair.
I ran for home as fast as I could but all the time the bees were stinging me.
My mother sprayed me with the hose and put calimine lotion on the sting spots. I had been stung over 100 times.
To this day [I am age 72 now] I am still very afraid of bees!
