Terrible day at the tournament
Ended up making the same mistake in two games and went down a knight and was about to lose a bishop because it was pinned to the Queen. I just don't know what I'm doing in the beginning.
I have to get better at seeing the board. I can't figure out what my opponent is up to. I fall into to many simple traps.
I just finished reading Pandolfini's Ultimate Guide To Chess a couple of weeks ago and it all seemed to make so much sense, but when I get in an actual game I fall apart.
I end up not seeing possible attacks, or worse yet, I make a move just because I don't know what else to do. I can't seem to develop any sense of attack.
I try not to move the same piece twice in the opening and castle early but I haven't figured out how to thwart my enemies moves.
Sigh, I think it is going to be a long, but very short tournament for me.
