I'm Baaaack .. with a vengance
It has been around 2 years since I started playing chess again (after about 40 years of not playing).
I started out by just playing and found out rather quickly that I was not at the same at the level I thought I was anymore.
After a while I was stuck a bit below 1500 trying to increase but I kept stumbling over my own feet and got nowhere.
Things have changed as you can see below!
So what has happened`?
I decided to take a step back and really look at what I was doing.
I found that playing 14-1500s I lost time and time again from not remembering an iota of opening theory anymore and combined that with big blunders in almost every game.
I played more or less no online games for 1 1/2 years while starting from scratch again.
I'll be coming back here, posting what I've done and how I've done it to get to where I am today.
Just a sidenote, I'm planning on going higher with my playing strength!
And just to let you know, I really did feel like my age combined with the lack of playing would be an obstacle but I think I'm doing quite well (just became 57)!. I do have to confess to not being able to play 1 minute and missing almost any kind of win in 3 minutes. But at 5 minutes I'm doing quite well!
So keep and eye on my blog for a recipe that so far has taken me from around 1450 to almost 1800 in ranking!
