Scholorships to Promissing Chess Players from Goa
Taleigao Chess Academy gave first cheque of Rs.1000/- to three promissing chess playing children under scholorship schement. total 12 monthly cheque of Rs.1000 will be given.
1. Master Tejas Rajesh Takkekar , Started playing Chess at the age of 5 (five). Till date he has played 10 tournaments in all categories, he has performed well in all the tournaments. Among this tournament he has secured outstanding positions in the following tournaments
a) January 26 & 27, 2008 Primary student chess festival secured 9th place in all Goa Std. 1st category organized by Taleigao Chess Academy in association with International Centre Goa, Dona Pula
b) On 22nd June 2008 Secured 3rd place in all Goa Under 7 chess tournament organized by Taleigao Chess Academy, at Tulsimata Pandurang Tample Odlebhat.
c) On 20th July 2008 Secured 2nd place in in all Goa Under 7 chess tournament organized by Taleigao Chess Academy at Mustifund High School, Panaji
2. Master Girish Milind Kulkarni studing in 4th standerd at Dr. K.B.Hedgewar Primary School, Panaji. Is 9 years old, started playing chess at the age of 6. He first played in the tournament held at INOX, Panaji in 2005. In that tournament he played well and scored 4 points. Then he attracted attention of Chess guru Shri Shrikant Barve. Under his invaluable guidance his chess carrier is flourishing. He achieved success in different tournaments, ranked 9th in Annual Chess festival 2008 held at International Centre Goa in January 2008, this was his first prize in chess. After that he bagged 2nd spot in the tournament held in July 2008 & September 2008 organized by Taleigao Chess Academy Sports Club.
Playing chess helped him in his school studies. Now he is scoring more than 90% marks easily with less efforts on study. His concentration and smartness is increasing day by day. Credit goes to Shri Shrikant Barve Sir for his inspired guidance and efforts.
3. Master Omkar Damle 6th Std student of Dr. K. B. Hedgewar School, Panaji playing chess for last two years. He has recently played National ‘B’ Chess championship held at Zambaoulim and scored 4.5 points. He has won four games against senior players like Arvind Mhamal.
