Coincidences with FIFA: Dortmund R6

A while ago, chess fans were asking the question "Which is more corrupt, FIFA or FIDE?", but now, I ask the question, "Which is more depressing, FIFA or FIDE?". The FIFA WWC has been pretty depressing to me already, and now... I guess Dortmund isn't that depressing, but Norway Chess certainly was.

Hou Yifan... lost again, which means that she won't be able to finish on 0, let alone +1... and I don't know if she can even get -1. Oh well.

So Caruana takes the lead again, demonstrating his ability to do well... once again. I will not be (that) surprised if he wins.

Nisip managed to draw Kramnik... but maybe it should be worded as "Kramnik managed to draw Nisipeanu". It lasted 83 moves, for those of you who are interested.

Nepom beat Naiditsch (!!) in a rather sad endgame for the German No. 1. Pity.

And then Wesley So... manages only a draw... against the bottom player...

Oh, is this unpredictability?

Maybe not quite, but I have found plenty of connections between FIFA and FIDE.
