This is a new tournament series I decided to create for Beginners/Noobs and folks like me who are just getting going in playing chess. Each tournament will be named after a well-known New England ski resort and will include a trail name from that mountain. This is the very first tournament I have ever created, and my hope is that if things go well with this format, I will have an additional tournament or three over the coming winter/spring.
Best of luck to all who sign up and, unlike in skiing, hope you won't go downhill as you play!

Congratulations!
Thanks to one and all for participating in the Sugarloaf Widowmaker tournament. Congratulations to our winner, Bok3659 - Well done!! Also congrats are due to our other podium achievers, 2nd place - Jayyypea, and 3rd place - Black98Red.
In the next week or so I will be putting together tournament #2 in this series that will have the exact same format as this one. I liked that it was fairly quickly played and did not linger on for a seeming eternity as has been my experience in the past with some tournaments. Short and sweet, I'd say.
So if you would like to participate in another of these, start looking during the first week of February 2024. Once again, thanks to one and all for playing!!

New tournament
A new tournament for those having an ELO rating of 600-900 has just been made available to sign up for. Its name is the "Sugarloaf Widowmaker-NE Series #1" This tournament should proceed fairly quickly as it is set up so that: 1) Time control is set to 1 day; 2) No vacation is allowed; 3) there will be 16 groups of 4 players with only 1 player { the one with the best record } from each group proceeding on to the next round.
Again, to sign up, your ELO must be under 901, in order to make for a more competitive event. Have a look and sign up if you'd like to play!
