Almasi, Zoltan

Zoltan Almasi, born Aug 29, 1976, was a Hungarian Grandmaster (1993) at the age of 17.  He has won the Hungarian championship six times.  In 2000 he was ranked #23 in the world.  In 1993, he won the World Junior Championship.  In 2005, he became the first grandmaster to lose to a computer program in Chess960 (random chess), when he lost an exhibition match to Shredder in Germany.  In 2005, he challenged Peter Svidler for the Chess 960 (Fischerandom) World Championship, but lost the match.  His Elo rating is 2682, ranked #29 in the world.
