Belavenets, Sergey
Sergey Vesevolodovich Belavenets (1910-1942) was the chess champion of Moscow in 1932, 1937, and 1938. He won the Russian championship in 1934 and took 3rd in the USSR Championship in 1939. He died in the siege of Leningrad. His daughter, Ludmilla (born in 1940), won the 4th Women’s World Correspondence Chess Championship in 1992.
