Dzindzichashvili, Roman Yakovlevich
Roman Dzindzichashvili a well known grandmaster of Soviet origin (peak rating 2703), was born on May 5, 1944. In 1976, he emigrated to Israel where in 1977 he won the 1977 Israeli Championship and gained the grandmaster title in 1979. That same year, he further emigrated to the US where he won the Lone Pine tournament the following year and twice shared first place at the US national championships in 1983 and 1989. In more recent years Dzindzichasvili has been known for his great coaching and teaching abilities, coaching world class players in the past as well as the US olimpiad team. He has also brought out many instructional chess DVDs and continues even now to make videos for chess.com on a regular basis.
