Some while ago it was the 25th anniversary of Toy Story the first in a series with so far three sequels, such has been their popularity, shown by appearing in many lists as amongst the top hundred films ever made. The film broke new ground as it was the first feature-length computer-animated film and in 1996 a Special Achievement Oscar was awarded to the creator John Lasseter for the development and application of techniques which made it possible. It was also unusually nominated for Best Original Screenplay, Best Song Randy Newman for You’ve Got a Friend in Me and Best Music Score Randy Newman and nominated for a BAFTA for Best Special Visual Effects . The story about a boy and his toys and the relationships between the toys led to a merchandising extravaganza with children around the world acquiring the toys – not just Woody and Buzz Lightyear but through the range to Rex the Dinosaur, Mr Potato Head, Bo Peep and Slinky - for themselves and phrases such as “howdy pardner” and of course “To infinity and beyond” entering their language. Created at Pixar by ex-Disney employees, production and distribution led to an alliance between the two companies and eventually Disney taking over Pixar. Well voiced by stars such as Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Don Rickles, we believe this is worthy of a match in its honour and hope you will accept – if the numbers or ratings do not suit, then please make contact.
