A chess opening revolves around control of the centre four squares. The two ways of control are direct and indirect. Direct control means placing pawns on e4/d4 and then defending that space. Indirect control allows your opponent to occupy the centre while you snipe at it from the edges, usually by fianchettoing one or both Bishops. Whatever your taste: Charge and control the centre!!!
