The answer of the chess school "Etude" from the Russian Federation is a victory in a match over a team from Bangladesh in the quarterfinals of the Club League. We don't support Russian aggression against Ukraine. We condemned it. But in sports we welcome everyone to come & play. This is the spirit of sports. You could boycott Russian team in the preliminary round but you didn't. You didn't play against us in the 4th round & league committee postponed than round which was not expected. If you have problem you could boycott the league. I would like to make it clear that we are here to play, nothing else.

adriano81, your club already played against Russian club Etud in this league in the preliminary round. Now you are campaigning against them. It's a double standard. Pakistan did the same thing against us in 1971 but we always play against them. We don't mix politics & sports. Though the league committee violated the league rule we are going to play against Etud.

As far as I knw canadian and both czech teams won't be playing against Etud.. so I doubt this playoff means smth

Continuation. .. we have been playing in the league from the very beginning. Now while talking about following the rules we are getting threats of withdrawing our name from the league! Very shameful.

The league committee has violated the rule of pairings in the quarterfinals. When I questioned about it I didn't get satisfactory reply. The told me about avoiding paring between Ukraine & Russian teams. It seemed funny to me. Because teams from Ukraine & Russia played against one another in the previous rounds — no problem caused there. Moreover if two teams from Ukraine & Russia moves to the final what will be done by the league committee? We play chess because we enjoy it. We ha

Note the following rules: G2. Players must compete in at least 1 regular season match in order to play in the playoffs. Players in violation of this rule will have their scores amended as if they lost 0-2. G6. In the case of a drawn match in the playoffs (one club wins rapid, the other wins blitz), the sum of the total game points from the matches will be declared the winner. In case of tie in total game points, the higher ranked club (round 6 standings) will be the winner.
