Erik is smart, but he has the type personality that thinks that northing is ever right or good or complete. He will always be changing chess dot com - even if it means going from bad to worse. In fact it often DOES mean going from bad to worse. 😣
You are so right, @Spacebux. Chess.com is "safe", You have to give it to Erik, he is brilliant in his unique way. Has found how to exploit the vacuum which has been left in the intellectual and character climate created by a mechanistic and materialist system of education. AI is the same. Fake, and empty, Smart in appearance only. And easily manipulated.
I suspect many of them are semi- or permanently banned from some of those sites; but chess is a hard one for a parent or teacher to admonish. So, I suspect there is a decent amount of spill-over from students looking for an online, social platform to escape to mid-class. Chess.com just might be one of the "allowed" sites.
@mercatorproject -- I tend to think of this and a few other clubs brought over from v2 as the real, adult clubs. The ones that will get Gen Z and Gen A members in slowly; the young'nes that really do want to play chess. Too many Gen Z & A users are infatuated with their "online" internet presence. They'll have accounts everywhere: Minecraft, Fortnite, Switch, TikTok, Discord, etc.
So maybe I should throw that out here. If any of you guys enjoy Vote Chess and want to help in a club full of kids, the Tiger Lovers Club might be fun for you. We are making progress in turning it into a real chess club.
Thanks for helping with Vote Chess in the Tiger Lovers Club John. That Particular club seems to be on the right track and part of that is because of your help.
I have seen three members in club post consecutive number in the Notes. One would post 116 and the next would post 117 an the next 118, then the first would post again and say 119 and so on. I asked why they were doing that and they said they wanted to have lots of posts in the Notes so that their club would be "active". *just shaking my head*
They want to get new members and to "partner" with other clubs. I have never understood why a club needs to partner with another club, but it is a big deal to them. Some of them make every member in the club an Admin. Some give awards/trophies for silly things, but they call them "cheers". Then most of them start asking why their clubs are not active. I have seen three members in a club.....
I have joined a few of these clubs to try to learn about the young members on this site and to maybe help them learn about chess. It was interesting at first but soon got old. Those kids use so many acronyms in place of spelling out words! And most of them own so many clubs and have so many identities/accounts you can't get one of them to actually try to develop a club ......
