No worries! I'm happy to buy one. Honestly the only reason I didn't have one is I don't have anyone in my life to play with. It would excite me to have a need for a set and a clock! :)
Hello all! I haven’t been to meetings in some time. Places and meetings still the same as was posted November 23 2021? And do I need to bring anything?
Howdy, all. Lefty and I were chatting yesterday about doing some online activities that would extend to our socks & shoes meeting place...like vote chess against other clubs.
Let me know if I can help Cooljoe182, I am a regular at the meetings. Full Circle Bookstore on Saturday from 2-6, Wednesdays at Hopscotch Bar and Grill at 6
Irving Chernev's book is great. I'd also suggest "Art of Attack in Chess" by Vladamir Vukovic. The 4th edition of "Silman's Complete Endgame Course" will teach you anything you need to know about endgames from absolute to master level.
Vote chess sounds great, I'd definitely be down. Also, I'm pretty stuck around 1100, anyone have suggestions on how to improve? Just bought Logical Chess: Move by Move by Irving Chernev, hopefully that helps.
I like this idea. Would be fun to try and a great way for beginners like me to understand why some of the better players in our area make some of the moves they do in different situations.
