On the Shoulders of Giants
This group is dedicated to honoring the giants of chess history, from Francois-André Danican Philidor in the 18th century, to Magnus Carlsen in the 21st, and everyone in between.
We study the brilliancies and blunders of the great masters of the last 300 years, not just the world champions, but all the players who left a mark on the Royal Game, and improve our own play by doing so.
We will also have general discussions on the history of chess, and where its headed as we move into the future.
For those seeking competition and improvement in their own games, we will have Vote Chess and Team Matches, where we will do our best to use the knowledge we have gained.
In this group, we don't just love to play chess, we also love its history, its great personalities, and we continually hope for a brighter chess future.
We recognize that as modern players with centuries of knowledge to learn from, we truly do stand on the Shoulders of Giants!
