Hello and welcome to the debate of the century. A question that has been discussed for ages and will be discussed for centuries to come. Which opening is best? Argue for your side, and may the best opening win! I'll start: For white, I love the queen's pawn opening because of the positional theory behind it, it also allows for sharp positions to occur and translates into an overall very technical middlegame. As black, I love playing the Caro-Kann because of it's solidity, and it also supports the d5 square for future center pushes.

Hello and welcome to a new game called Guess the Elo - Puzzle Edition! This game will follow the exact same rules as traditional Guess the Elo games. If you don't know what Guess the Elo is, it is basically a game where you have to guess the rating of the puzzle/game presented. For example, in traditional Guess the Elo, there would a certain game featured. You would then have to estimate what the players ratings were based on the moves on the board. However, in Guess the Elo - Puzzle Edition, we will be estimating a puzzle's rating. I will be presenting 3 puzzles today, and if this receives positive feedback I will create more! Also, the user with the closest guess after 3 days receives 10 cheers! Now, let's start. Puzzle #1: Puzzle #2: Puzzle #3:

Hello, I have noticed that there are certain useful tactics that occur often in games that they become worthwhile to learn to recognize them. As a simple example just to illustrate what I mean, this tactic to promote our pawn: Another one I can think of is this pattern (there's a rook at h8, and knight takes at g6 with a queen at h5 to pin the pawn so we win the rook either way): Another very common tactical pattern example is the Greek gift. There are many more examples, named ones or unnamed ones. Do you guys have any advanced tactical patterns or ideas in mind which you think are useful to learn? (Advanced as in, not just pure forks, pins, skewers. It doesn't need to look complicated)
