Improve rated puzzles experience

I'd love if rated puzzled showed the themes or motifs afterward so we could target weaknesses. Lichess does this and provides a radar chart (see attached).

Also, the current rating points gain loss is very imbalanced. needing 6 solved perfectly to offset 1 miss is demoralizing. I'm usually seeing -12 and +2 or 3 at best. There used to be partial credit for rating points if I recall. Can that be reinstituted on a per move basis? miss the first move, but able to solve the 2nd and so forth should count. Just random thoughts.

edit: tried to include pictures, but they apparently wouldnt post. just google radar chart, but at each point insert a chess tactic or motif.

If you turn off Collect Puzzle Points that information dhows

As for rating, set the Difficulty setting to Hard or Extra Hard . Pretty confident partial credit won't be added back.

Thanks, had no idea it would show by turning off puzzle points. Strange it isnt included with puzzle points on. I did try changing the difficulty but nothing changed nor the gain/loss ratio for the puzzles.

My suggestion is to have us earn partial cred toward rating based on a per move basis for each puzzle. Each move counts separately if achieved on 1st attempt up to the full rating gain/loss.

I did find in the app, what appears to be a discrepancy in puzzle difficulty rating based on the screen. Really hoping the images post, but if i review an old puzzle, a different (likely higher) rating will show vs in the past puzzle list. For example, one shows at 1739 in the list, but 2084 upon review. Its possible i misunderstood the meaning of the 2084.

Edit: once again the screenshots wont publish to show the possible rating discrepancy. Any ideas why?

Puzzle Points is designed to be more casual and less focused on rating and puzzle data and what's shown is more streamlined.

The puzzle system caches some puzzles, so if you changed the difficulty, it's possible some older ones were in the cache. The average puzzle ratings presented are higher in the harder settings, so the points gained and lost are also different (more gained, fewer lost), though the number of successful puzzles tend to be lower and the overall rating changes will be similar.

On the app, I know for a while, the history was showing from the old puzzle ratings, but that should be correct on newer versions. Though it does appear visiting them from the history may still show the old ratings. I'll check to see if that's a known issue.

As to screenshots. Are you posting from a web browser?

Seems like there should be an option to collect the points and see the puzzle data.
On the topic of improving puzzle experience: a good portion of the comments are people simply leaving the time it took them to complete the puzzle. It took me a while to figure out they weren't bragging, but instead leaving a record of their time for future comparison when they get the puzzle again.

Would it be possible to add a recap of your past results on that particular puzzle? Specifically, date, time, outcome. It would help clean up the comments on each puzzle and enhance the user experience.

Martin, i tried via browser and app. I do use Brave. Could that be the issue? Both said it was posted, but just excluded the .png.

Ill update the app and see if ratings are consistent

Edit: app up to date prior to posting with jan 2026 update
