Time control could be 3+3 or maybe 4+4.
The format is not defined yet, likely a single round-robin.
Confirmed or possible participants:
Thanks Nelly, greetings to u2
I have a few questions about the tournament 1 how long the link is active 2 what happens when a player doesn't join on time 3 what is the format (arena, swiss system, ladder) I hope the translation is good
1 = there is no automatic link, you have to find your opponent and challenge him. I'll create and publish a precise schedule to follow.
2 = if you are there but your opponent doesn't show up in time, then you are awarded a win. Small delays are tolerated (to be determined).
3 = the format has not been established yet, probably a 'single round-robin' which means everyone plays everyone else once.
..
1 = 没有自动链接,你必须找到你的对手并挑战他。 我将创建并发布一个精确的时间表来遵循。
2 = 如果你在场但你的对手没有及时出现,那么你就赢了。 可以容忍小的延迟(待定)。
3 = 格式尚未确定,可能是“单循环”,这意味着每个人都与其他人玩一次。
There will be a surprise maybe, but he is unsure...
I will run the tournament but I'm not 100% sure I will play.
So we are 8 participants, I've just send out messages for confirmation.
Tournament starting in 24h from now!

I'm ready for tomorrow haha
Confirmed at 100%:
J.Hilton also expressed the intention to participate, but the timing is not really convenient for him... And the day is not really convenient for his wife... I'll grant him the right to decide on the spot at the last moment.
Waiting for some confirms from the others.
I do not want the tournament to last for more than 2 hours. So the rounds might be of 15 minutes (with 3+3 time control) or of 20 minutes (with 4+4 time control) depending on the number of participants.
If the participants are only four it is not bad, we can run a double round-robin tournament consisting of 6 rounds. Like this: https://challonge.com/rmtbnoao (I can still modify it, adding more players, hopefully)
I like to have a even number of participants, so I'll use myself as an odd-breaker.
-- Instructions for those participating in the tournament --
The tournament will start at 4:00 GMT on July 31st.
You will be given a list with the names of the players that you will have to challenge in the predetermined order, one in each round.
Time control is 4 | 4 and matches are expected to last approximately 20 minutes each. Absences or delays over 7 minutes are counted as game losses, without loss of rating though. If a match lasts a little longer is not a problem, your delay is justified in that case, specifically when your previous game ended in 120 or more moves. The assignment of White and Black is random.
How to challenge opponents:
-- If your opponent is on your friends list you can challenge him, remembering to set the time control to 4 | 4 . If he challenges you first, then you simply accept the challenge and start playing.
-- If your opponent is not in your friends list then you first check if he has already created the game with the correct time control, otherwise you create the game and wait for him to enter.
-- If the time control is not correct or the opponent is not the one foreseen for that round then you leave the game.
The tournament results will be updated in real time at this link:
https://challonge.com/rmtbnoao
-- Win is worth 1 point, draw 0.5, defeat zero --
<Note> If the game ends in a stalemate, the player delivering stalemate is the winner, although Chess-dot-com could sometimes award a tie, but we consider it just as a bug.

what did you do when you show the message "this player is active on the server on the server"?
Well, when "this player" is your opponent you challenge him to play.
Do you know you have to set the time control at 4+4.
Well, I think I owe my Asian friends a favour. All the tournaments I have organized so far have been held at times that are not really convenient for Asian people, forcing them to play in the middle of the night. The same goes for my Californian friends who were forced many times to wake up early in the morning.
So for once I want to move of 12 hours the event, which is no longer at the noon of New York City, but at the noon of Beijing, which is 4am GMT.
So the appointment is for Sunday 31 July (noon in Beijing, 6am in Berlin, Saturday 30 July, 9pm in Los Angeles).
Who's in ??
The tournament will be played under the rules of Shatranj/Chaturanga. This is open to everyone, it doesn't matter the rating, it doesn't matter the geographical location neither.
