Q&A - Evolution, the Bible, and Creation

Evolution, the foundation of Biology, is a scientific theory. As such it has been tested & repeatedly challenged to evaluate how reliable it is as an explanation for the diversity of life we see around us.

The Bible, insofar as it makes propositional statements, is a body of dogma. Creationism draws its inspiration from that dogma.

If evolution (I presume you mean the theory) was the foundation of biology, there would have been no biology before the theory.

The Bible is the Word of God

The Bible has more history than "dogma".

And a fair share of scientific observations, as well...

Yes, the Bible contains history as well as dogma but it is not a science textbook.

The Bible is the Word of God

But not everyone believes that or is convinced of that

Anyone that is a Christian does.

If anyone who claims to be a Christian disagrees with that, they're not actually a Christian.

Have you ever read the Bible?

The truth is still the truth, even if no one believes it.

And since theories about the origins of life on Earth and the origin of the universe itself are constantly changing, we could say that theory of evolution is not holding up so well to the constant challenges and testing. It has not been abandoned yet because the alternative is so unacceptable to its adherents, not because it is such a bang-up (pun intended) theory.

Well I guess Paul, Peter, Jesus and the rest of the disciples and first century "Christian" believers weren't really Christians since the Bible hadn't even been assembled yet

True, but that doesn't mean your statement about the Bible is true.  You accept it on faith

Really?  Please do tell how they have been "constantly changing" and what these "constant challenges" are

I guess not, especially since they were the ones that wrote it.

Heh.

That challenges theories on the origin of life and origin of the universe?  It doesn't even challenge the theory of evolution

Faith is what makes a Christian.

Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the evidence of things not seen.

It wasn't his statement, actually, it was the statement of Paul and the disciples.

The point is that one's belief about the Bible is not what determines salvation

Never said that.

It is one of the constant challenges he was speaking of.

If you don't believe the Bible is God's word, then you can't believe that salvation is possible, because the only thing that affirms salvation is the Bible, along with the rest of Christian doctrine.
