You are right. You have to play 300 games as a National Master while also holding a rating of at least 2200. That is the requirements.
Qualifications for titles After NM? How to achieve Life master titles etc

yeah but there's 2 titles of life master there's regular life master and OLM
what I am wondering is if for normal life master you just need 5 norms and that's it
no 300 games required

It might be you could also get norms but it may be that you need to get both before you become a LM.
yeah maybe but i think only the 5 norms are required, unsure tho
for Original life master I think 300 games are required
I'd ask USCF directly. Or sign up for the forums https://uschess.discourse.group/ and someone will know.

- For the Life Master title, the player must have had or currently has an established rating of at least 2200.
- the Senior Life Master title, the player must have had or currently has an established rating of at least 2400.
- 7. The current Title system has no effect on the original Life Master title, which requires 300 games above a rating of 2200
i've looked at it a dozen times but it doesn't even mention the NM title as it instead is replaced by life master in terms of achieving when you cross 2200 which is odd. it only mentions OLM which is what was stated could only be earned through maintaining 2200 elo and playing 300 games which can lasts years. i am wondering about life master, not OLM but it appears that it can just be won through 5 master norms and that's about it so it seems really well and easier
The NM title is gained automatically by reaching an established OTB regular rating of 2200 or higher after an event is rated.
I also believe only the OLM title comes with a 2200 rating floor.

Edited that, as I missed Life Master. also, Life Master and Senior Life Master would require norms, OLM does not.

ah alright thanks for the clarification ill keep it in mind if I ever want to pursue senior master
Could I please know which is the rating performance for a "M" norm?
TheTitle PDF has all the requirements.
Thanks Stahl, but it is not clear to me. Do I have to have a 2400 together with performances superior to 2400?
Could you please copy and past the requirements to LM?
Thanks

LM requires meeting 2200 level norms or higher. You'll need to do the math explained in the document to figure out if you meet the norms for any specific events.
Everything depends on your score and opponent ratings.
Hello everyone this is fellow american brayan amaya who has become a National Master awaiting verification in july but I still have an interesting question about the titles that come after achieving NM which is how do you exactly become a LM? I've looked at old forums and answers which state that you have to achieve 5 norms or hold 300 games above a 2200 rating which honestly sounds like pure insanity that people forget they achieve. Also for instance I have now gotten 3 "M" norms which USCF congratulated me for earning stating they are life master norms but does this mean that when I get 5 I become a Life Master? fill me in behind this title and its weirdness
