WE FINALLY MADE IT TO THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!
In the Quarter-Finals we are up against Wallyjack's Premium Members Group. This is their first time in the playoffs as well, so this is actually a really good match up. We've both had some pretty impressive wins, and some rather humbling losses. This game could easily go either way.
Tale of the Tape:
#2 The Dark Knights (5-0) vs #7 Wallyjack's Premium Members Group (3-1-1)
Formed: August 2008 vs August 2009
Members: 339 vs 1088
Overall Vote Chess Win %: 69 vs 44
Vote Chess Leaderboard Position: #34 (259 points) vs #204 (58 points)
Vote Chess Rating (Long Time Control): 1506 (#97) vs ???? (NR)
SVC Rating: 1262 (#19) vs 1228 (#23) [Last month they were #19 and we were #22, so we've switched places]
Total # of SVC games played: 26 vs 9 (19 vs 8)
SVC Win %: 61 vs 44
SVC Draw %: 16 vs 13
In their SVC games, they've played:
Sep 2010: Sicilian Defense, French Variation (Lost by Submission)
Oct 2010: Italian Game, Scotch Gambit (Won by Submission)
Feb 2012: Sicilian Defese, Nyezhmetdinov-Rossolimo Attack (Lost by Submission)
Jun 2010: Gruenfeld Defense, Exchange Variation (Lost by Timeout)
Jul 2010: Spanish, Closed, Martinez Variation (Lost by Submission)
Aug 2010: Scotch Game (Won by Checkmate)
Dec 2011: Queen's Gambit Refused, Baltic Defense (Won by Timeout)
Jan 2012: Slav Defense (Won by Checkmate)
Mar 2012: Queen's Gambit Declined (Draw)
So in all three games as white they opened up with 1.e4 and lost to the Sicilian both times that black responded with it. So if we draw black, I recommend the Sicilian (I know I usually play 1...Nf6, but this is the playoffs).
As black, they played against the Queen's Gambit a bunch of times, and always played it differently, but always played it well. So if we draw white, I recommend we start with 1.e4. They handled the Scotch better than the Spanish, so I'm leaning towards the Ruy Lopez.
