please , can someone (with some experience) tell me the difference between old and modern benoni , I know there moves are different , what i want to know is what are there pros and cons

Hi Shikher there's no deference between these 2 types only the moves order the old benoni starts out with d4 c5 immediately then transposing to the normal benoni the moder line starts out with pawn d4 Nf6 c4 c5 or e6 follow up with c5

Since we're at this... I have a question that is apparently kinda silly. Benoni-shly speaking, after 1. d4 Nf6, what prevents white to go for d5? I know it's a wasted move but if white really wants to avoid the Benoni, he can do that. So coming back to my question, is it rather the fear of running into king's indian the one that prevents white to go for d5?

Well, sometimes people play bad moves to avoid your pet defence, and of course they can do that. What strikes me as even the wasted tempo in case of 2.d5, is the fact that White clarifies central matters much too early. After 2...d6 (or 2...g6, 2...e6 or maybe even 2...b5!?) Black can decide on what development scheme to use and chip away at White's d5 strongpoint with either ...c6 or ...e6, if not played earlier, or play ...e5 or try to get back to the Benoni with ...c5 - all the cho
