That was not Ted Belanoff.

@subramanyamsripada does have an 1800 OTB rating, however, it was clear in the tournament announcements that Chess.com rapid ratings would be used so no one should have been surprised.

Python, we've already been down this road. Read the trailing exchange. The guy had an OTB rating of 1900+ but a rapid rating of U1600 apparently. No matter how you slice it, Subramany has some serious integrity issues but how can Chess.com legitimately police such nefarious activity. The answer given is that... they cant. As unfortunate as it is that a genuine U1600 lost out on a spot, it is what it is at this point.

There was nothing nefarious.  That player's OTB quick rating is U1600 so had this been an OTB Quick rated event, he would have qualified for the section anyway.  The events have regulations and the regulations were followed.

agree with Jerry... There is no way a 1900+OTB player is going to lose to U1600 players even if he doesn't play much Rapid online.

As has been mentioned, no one is going to try and keep up with ratings and the site doesn't have rating floors. So, for the most part, if there are US Chess rated events on site and they are using the automated tournaments, then they will always be based on Chess.com ratings, regardless of any OTB ratings.
