Wait what is gxf3? is it just me (and that i'm improving) or is qxf3 waaay better, because it doesn't open the g-file for an attack on your king?

Yes it does, it really weakens your king safety, but if I take Qxf3 then I will lose my bishop on d3 after black plays Nxd3.
The bishop trade done by black there is a great example of a “good trade”, where black trades a piece and forces me to weaken my structure, severely damaging my king safety. But qxf3 is worse because I blunder a bishop.

yeah ngl, I completely missed the fact that after Qxf3, the bishop is hanging lmao
